Sailing 8 days Saronic Peloponnese itinerary

The Saronic Islands are a beautiful cluster of islands located in the Saronic and Argolic Gulf just between the Peloponnese and Attica. The islands of Poros, Spetses, Hydra, Aegina, and Agistra are included in this prefecture. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Greece, and is a popular destination for sailing and yachting, as well as home to a variety of world class beaches and resorts. On the other hand we have the Peloponnese which is a large peninsula in southern Greece. This region is known for its incredible mountain ranges, vineyards, and its abundance of ancient ruins. Being blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the country it creates quite a buzz with locals and tourists alike. It has various climates and terrains, and its coast is met by the Ionian on one side and the Aegean on the other. It has a traditional Greek cuisine and is a lovely place to explore when in Greece.

During your sailing adventure of the Greek Islands, you will have the opportunity to visit these marvelous places and the wonderful combination of both regions. First off you will begin your journey from the country's capital. When setting off from Athens your first destination will be the lovely island of Poros. Here you will witness lush pine forests, exceptional waters, and lovely beaches. This island has quite a few options in terms of activities, so there is no chance anyone will get bored. Make sure to stop at one of the many taverns on the waterfront to enjoy a traditional Greek meal. Poros has a reputation for good food and delicious seafood. After touring around the island's gorgeous bays and beaches the time will come to head off to your next destination.

Next stop Spetses, this is probably the most cosmopolitan island of the Saronic Islands and is a favorite destination for posh Athenians looking to get away for the weekends. Another area blessed with gorgeous pine forest and excellent beaches. Spetses has everything in terms of interesting stores, venues, and establishments. Whether you are looking for extravagant nights out, a relaxed evening at a tavern overlooking the sea, or simply being anchored in a gorgeous bay overnight, the island is at your service. The island has interesting museums, vibrant nightlife, and rich history and culture. This should make your second stop an interesting part of your adventure.

The ancient capital of Greece awaits your discovery, Nafplio is one of the most romantic towns in the country with its very interesting medieval architecture and is truly a wonderful place to stroll the cobbled streets exploring its intricate alleys and extravagant town square. Palamidi Fortress is a medieval fortress placed provocatively upon a hill and is a must visit during your stay on the Peloponnesian peninsula. After enjoying the charming atmosphere in this gorgeous town, the time has once again come to venture off to your next destination.

Hydra, another beautiful part of the Saronic Islands, is truly a unique Greek Island with distinct architecture. Experience the complete serenity of a place where no automobiles are prohibited. Here a noble stead is the only form of transportation, and is the local way of life. This is one of the most picturesque ports in the country and has been a famous destination for many movie stars of previous decades. This is a popular sailing destination and attracts many visitors from the mainland over the weekends. You will notice a number of interesting stone mansions and buildings with unique architecture overlooking the port and scattered around the island. Hydra is renowned for its excellent fresh seafood which you should enjoy on its gorgeous waterfront at one of the taverns overlooking the sea.

Half way through your journey there are still three lesser known destinations which should really make an impression during your yacht sailing vacation. Ermioni is an absolutely gorgeous seaside town located on the eastern coast of the Peloponnese. Many have come to describe it as being a city-island seeing as it emanates a Greek Island atmosphere. This is a perfect family destination with an incredibly serene waterfront, lovely little taverns, and very nice beaches. This is where everyone can relax taking in the beautiful surroundings and breathtaking scenery. Due to its gorgeous landscapes and dreamy location many Athenians have made holiday homes here for the summer.

The ancient world of Epidauvros is your second last destination, and has the fascinating architectural marvels of the Ancient Theatre and the Sanctuary of Asklepios. These are some of the most historically significant sights in Greece, and surely even those who are not fond of history will find these areas to be very interesting. The ancient Theater is famous for its perfect architectural proportions and unbelievable acoustics. The Sanctuary of Asklepios offers incredible insight into the advancement of human civilization in the science of healing. The small fishing village of Palaia Epidauvros is really worth the visit, here you find some small taverns, a few accommodation options, and  is actually built upon the remains of the ancient port which was once the most important in the Peloponnese.

Last but not least, your final destination before returning to Athens is the tropical paradise of Agistri. For those who love nature and peaceful surroundings this place is filled with lush green forests and incredible rocky and golden sandy beaches. The water has an incredible aquamarine hue and offers some of the best swimming spots in the Aegean. The island is known for its delicious octopus which is considered a specialty. Charming simplistic taverns offer delicious meals, as well as a variety of laid back beach bars, and cafe-bars scattered across its waterfronts. No doubt you will enjoy some more great moments in the sun and sea, while sitting back sipping on a cocktail admiring the gorgeous Greek Sunsets in this exotic location.

All these areas are blessed with exciting hiking trails, which usually lead to interesting places, sights, ancient ruins, or sometimes just the most breathtaking views. No matter where you are during this vacation the scents, flavors, and little villages will stay in everyone's memories for quite some time, possibly even a lifetime. Although this awesome adventure is coming to an end, the splendid city of Athens welcomes you back to discover her seductive nature, rich historical, and cultural roots dating back to antiquity. Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a recorded history spanning over 3,400 years. The city is home to a wide variety of attractions, including ancient Greek sites like the Acropolis and the Parthenon, as well as modern attractions like the National Archaeological Museum, the Hellenic Parliament and the Greek National Opera. Athens is also a great city for exploring the nightlife, with a wide variety of bars, clubs and restaurants. There is also a vast amount of different stores for all shopping purposes, from fashion to sports gear, jewelry and cosmetics, and even some odd antique stores selling rare and unique items.
